“majority of men, severed in me those provinces of good and ill which divide and compound man’s dual nature .”
This quote from the book Jekyll and Hyde shows how a man has a dual personality a good side and a bad side which links in with social contract which is basically how society is expected to behave. As you can see the quotes stays the majority of men behave in a certain way in a way they are expected to that why Jekyll is so perfect because he fits into society and behaves as expected but Hyde dosent, Hyde is cruel and dosent behave as expected this is what the quote is tying to say about the dual nature.

Adam,
I’m pleased that you are exploring this concept with reference to social contracts.
I have some questions that I would like you to explore whilst developing this:
1) why do you think Jekyll wishes to break social contracts? What are the consequences for him?
2) find the quotation about the mirror – what does the mirror symbolise about Jekyll’s transformation? Why?
